The High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) encourages students to think about their future and how to get the most out of high school. Students write their plan in the spring of their 8th grade year or fall of their 9th grade year. They continue to revise it throughout high school to reflect changing interests or goals. The following elements should be included in the plan:
- Their personal story: what experiences, interests and goals are shaping who they are now and who they want to become
- Their learning styles: visual, auditory, hands-on, etc.
- Their goals for high school: what will their four years of high school look like, including classes, extracurricular activities, sports, job, etc.
- Their goals for immediately after high school: do their goals for high school get them ready for what they want to do after graduation? A student’s plan should include the classes needed in preparation for a two- or four-year college, vocational or technical school, certificate program, military or the workforce.
Your CVA teacher will assist with and approve the initial HSBP.
Use this planning form to help outline your goals and course (class) selections for your four years of high school. Early planning will ensure you have the proper prerequisites for your high school courses for graduation, college major and your intended vocation. A completed and approved High School and Beyond Plan meets one of the requirements for graduation.
